What I keep

The server writes logs the way any server does: the page you asked for, the time, the address it came from, and what your browser said about itself. I read them when something breaks or when someone hammers the site; I do not build a picture of you out of them. The comment fields are a different matter. If you leave a name, a note, a link, that is stored because it is the point of a comment. Anything you type there is yours and it stays visible to other readers, so write it as if the room can hear you, which it can.

Analytics

There is no tracking script on this site. No tag manager, no pixel, no heat map watching where your cursor rests. I would rather count a hundred comments than a million silent hits, and the numbers I care about are in the takes, not the traffic. If that changes I will say so here plainly, in the same voice, before it goes live.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie only when one is needed to keep a comment form working through a page load. Your browser may hand back a session cookie for the server itself. Nothing else is planted, and nothing follows you off this page.

Who never gets it

Your details are not sold. Not to a list broker, not to an advertiser, not to anyone who asks. They are not handed to a partner as part of a deal. There is no deal. If the law forces a disclosure I will comply with the narrowest reading I can, and I will tell you when I am allowed to.

Asking me to remove something

You can ask for a comment to come down, or for a log line to be cleared if it points at you, and I will do it where I reasonably can. Older logs roll off on their own anyway. Say who you are, what you want gone, and roughly when it went up; the request comes to the contact page on this site, and I answer those myself.
