What this site is
Jeans Music Lab is where I write down what I have learned recording, mixing and fixing up takes in my own small project studio. Everything here is opinion; it is one engineer’s account of what worked on one particular session. A compressor that rescued a flat vocal for me may do nothing for yours. Nothing on these pages is a guarantee of a result, and none of it is professional advice for your specific room, your specific take or your specific band.
What you may do with the content
Read it, learn from it, argue with it. Quote it, including in reviews, forums, teaching material and your own writing, as long as you credit Jeans Music Lab and link back to the page you took it from. Short excerpts with attribution are fine.
What you may not do
Do not republish posts wholesale, in any language, on any platform, with or without credit; if you want to translate or syndicate something, ask me first through the contact page. Do not scrape the site, mirror it, or feed it into a content farm. Do not resell the text, bundle it into a course, or present it as your own work.
Comments
Comments are open to anyone who wants to talk about recording. Keep them on the subject; disagreement is welcome, contempt is not. No abuse, no spam, no link-dropping, no gear-selling. I read the comments and I remove what breaks these rules, and I do not owe anyone an explanation for doing so.
Liability
I write these pages in good faith, but I cannot promise they are free of errors or that they will suit your situation. If you follow a suggestion here and it damages a take, a file, a piece of gear or a client relationship, that outcome is yours; I am not liable for it. The site is provided as it is, and you use it at your own risk.
Questions about any of this go through the contact page on the site.
